In 2024, the largest law firm by revenue in the United Kingdom was DLA Piper, generating approximately three billion British pounds. A&O Shearman, the third largest law firm in the United Kingdom by revenue, generated roughly 2.2 billion British pounds in the same year. 

The growth of DLA Piper

As DLA Piper had the highest revenue of the largest law firms in the UK in 2024, it is of little surprise it also ranked amongst the leading law firms in the United States by gross revenue. The firm has offices in over 40 countries worldwide and the number of lawyers working at DLA Piper has been increasing since 2018.

The Magic Circle

Also featured heavily in the rankings of the largest law firms in the UK are the Magic Circle of London-headquartered law firms. These firms are Allen & Overy, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters, and Slaughter and May. The only firm not featured in the list were Slaughter and May. To give an example of the large turnover created by these firms, the profits per equity partner (PEP) of Clifford Chance reached two million British pounds in 2023.
