Share of selected payment transaction services in Luxembourg 2001-2021

Unlike its neighboring countries of Belgium and Germany, Luxembourg has e-money payments as the lead payment method in the relative importance of payment services or instruments as a share of total transactions (in terms of transaction numbers) in 2020. In that year, e-money payments accounted for over 93 percent of all transactions. In Belgium, E-money payment accounted for only 1.2 percent of the relative importance in terms of transaction numbers in 2020. In Germany, this number was even lower, with 0.1 percent in 2020.
