Which Serie A football team in Italy had the highest total attendance in 2021/22? FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan both recorded the highest figure among all Serie A football teams, registering 1.26 and 1.24 million total spectators respectively.

From total attendance to average attendance: a Milanese domain

In terms of average match attendance in 2021/22, the scenario remained the same. Inter Milan ranked first and AC Milan followed. It is interesting that the teams recording the highest figures both come from Milan. After all, the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in Milan was the Serie A football stadium in Italy with the highest capacity as of 2021/22. This stadium, also known as San Siro, hosts the home matches of both Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Serie A: average utilization of stadium capacity

Overall, the Italian Serie A increased its average utilization of stadium capacities from 2010 to 2019. However, the major Italian football league recorded the lowest average utilization of stadium capacity of the Big Five, namely the biggest top-tier soccer leagues in Europe.
