In Latin America, the life premium volume was considerably larger for individual and group life in 2021 than for social security or pensions. That year, individual and group life insurance premiums amounted to just over 55 billion U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, social security and pensions had premiums worth nearly nine billion dollars. Individual and group life insurances also constituted the largest market share of the region's insurance industry premiums.
