The total reused or demolished office space in the four Dutch municipalities Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht varied drastically over time. In 2016, approximately 132,000 square meters of office space in Amsterdam was either reused or demolished. In 2020, however, this dropped to 12,000 square meters. Examples of office space being reused include the conversion into houses, hotels and educational buildings.
Amsterdam is the most expensive Dutch city for office space. As of 2020, the average rent of office space was 221 euros per square meter, well above the average rate in the rest of Netherlands' major cities.
