This statistic shows the interest rates per annum from households on deposits with an agreed maturity of more than one year in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands from August 2018 to August 2019. The interest rate in Belgium was 0.66 percent in August 2019. The monetary policy of the European Central Bank (ECB) maintains artificially low interest rates in an effort to increase inflation on the European continent. As a consequence, locking money away in a savings account becomes less lucrative. Despite that, the saving rate of households in the Netherlands is forecasted to increase by approximately 14.7 percent in 2019.
