With flying colors
Cargo is defined as goods that are transported by a large vehicle, a ship or an aircraft. Other terms used may be shipment or load. Cargo that does not include passengers is called freight. Passenger airplanes, for example, have also been known to transport additional cargo, though in smaller amounts than a freight vehicle. Frankfurt/Main Airport is one of the leading international airports in Germany and Europe. Among all German airports, it had the largest passenger volume, as well as the most aircraft movements.
Leading cargo airports
While air freight traffic has fluctuated in Frankfurt/Main or Frankfurt in recent years, it has remained around the two million tons mark. In addition to handling freight cargo, Frankfurt is one of the busiest passenger airports in the world. Meanwhile, among cargo airports worldwide, Hong Kong, Memphis and Anchorage were the leading three.
