IBM’s total operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions totaled 364,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) in 2023, a 15 percent reduction compared to the previous year. Scope 2 indirect emissions were the largest contributor to IBM's annual emissions that year, at 150,000 tCO₂e. As of 2023, IBM had reduced its operational GHG emissions by 68.5 percent against the company's 2010 base year. This means IBM achieved its goal of cutting emissions by 65 percent by 2025 two years early.
