Benelux: public opinion on contribution of immigrants 2019

According to this survey conducted in autumn 2019, beliefs on the contribution of immigrants were rather pessimistic in Belgium and mostly positive in Luxembourg, while being quite contrasted in the Netherlands. In November 2019, over 50 percent of Belgian respondents disagreed with the statement that immigrants contribute a lot to Belgium. Nonetheless, 44 percent of Belgian respondents stated the opposite.

Although a majority of Dutch respondents believed that immigrants contribute a lot to the Netherlands, 43 percent of Dutch respondents held negative views. On the other hand, respondents from Luxembourg held the most positive opinion towards the participation of immigrants in their country. In Luxembourg, over 70 percent of respondents stated that immigrants contribute to the country.
