Short-term estimates of economic impact of Zika in Latin America for 2016 by country
This statistic shows the estimated short-term economic impact of the Zika virus epidemic for 2016 in select Latin American and Caribbean countries by foregone income and foregone fiscal revenues in million U.S. dollars. Mexico is predicted to experience the largest economic impact from the Zika virus with an estimated 744 million U.S. dollars lost in foregone income and another 80 million lost in foregone fiscal revenues. However, small countries like Belize, Cuba, and Jamaica are expected to have the highest economic losses in relation to their GDP.
