Estimated funding ratio pension funds the Netherlands 2015-2022
Between 2015 and 2022, the estimated quarterly average funding ratio of pension funds in the Netherlands peaked in the second quarter of 2022 at 122.5 percent. The source lists that the funding ratio compares the assets from a pension fund against its liabilities and shows the financial health of Dutch pension funds. A percentage over 100 shows the assets outweigh the liabilities. Should pension funds be unable to reach that on the 31st of December, they are forced to create a plan of recovery. The funding ratio is reported to the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). The average funding ratio in the second quarter of 2022 was 122.5 percent, meaning that the assets of pension funds outweighed the liabilities by approximately 12.2 percent.
