Apple TV ranked second, with a 20 percent share of the global unit sales in the presented period. Google Chromecast came out on top with a 35 percent share of the global market. Despite having just a 16 percent share of the global market, Roku was the leading streaming media player in the United States in the first quarter of 2016. It held a share of 30 percent of unit sales, in comparison to Amazon's and Google's 22 percent.
