Latin America & Caribbean: air passenger traffic 2019-2020, by route type
In 2020, the volume of passengers handled by commercial airlines operating in Latin America and the Caribbean was drastically reduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, the number of domestic passangers in the region plummeted by roughly 55 percent in comparison to the passenger traffic of the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of travelers in international routes between Latin American and Caribbean countries was reduced by more than 70 percent to approximately 15 million.
