The 50 biggest construction companies in the UK 2022, by revenue

The turnover of construction firm Balfour Beatty was nearly twice that of its competitor Morgan Sindall Group in 2022. Morgan Sindall Group and Kier Group had a revenue of over three billion British pounds, compared to Balfour Beatty's 7.6 billion of revenue. Despite still leading the list of most profitable companies in the industry, Balfour Beatty's underlying revenue has remained stable in the past years, with no significant increase or decrease during the past years. In 2018, its revenue fell below eight billion British pounds for the first time since the beginning of the reporting period. As seen by the liquidation of another construction giant, Carillion, the current business climate proved to be difficult for firms within the industry.

Contractors worldwide

Eight of the ten largest international construction companies by revenue where based on China, hinting at the size of the construction industry in the Asian country. Four of the leading five contractors had generated a revenue of over 100 billion U.S. dollars in revenues each. However, when it comes to the size of international construction companies by market capitalization, the French company Vinci is still in the first position of the ranking and very far ahead of the next contender.
