Belgium at the World Cup
Despite controversy over the 2018 World Cup being held in Russia, when asked, the majority of Belgians agreed that Russia would be a successful host for the event. Belgium were eventually defeated by France in the semi-finals, with the French team going on to win the tournament. The Belgium national team were eliminated much earlier from the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The team, managed by Roberto Martinez, could not match their previous performance of a third place finish in the previous World Cup. They lost to Morocco 2-0 and drew with Croatia 0-0 in games that they needed to win in order to advance.
Mobile devices unpopular to watch World Cup in Belgium
In a survey held prior to the 2018 World Cup, 57 percent of Belgians responded that they would be watching it on television, while only 5 percent and 4 percent stated that they would be watching on a tablet and a mobile phone respectively. 12 percent said they would watch online.
