Apple's PC unit shipments in the U.S. 2013-2024, by quarter

In the third quarter of 2024, 2.63 million PC units were shipped by Apple in the United States, down from the 2.82 million PC units that the company shipped in the third quarter of the previous year. Apple ranked fourth among vendors in terms of PC shipments in the United States. 

Apple offers several Mac devices across a range of price points

Apple Mac is the company’s line of personal computers based on its macOS operating system. The Apple Mac lineup includes the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. Apple has made available versions of the MacBook Pro in 14-inch and 16-inch models, powered by the latest M3 Pro and M3 Max chips.Apple also offers its Mac mini, which features support for the M2 and M2 Pro chips.

Apple operates in a PC market that must navigate fluctuating demand

Following strong growth through the pandemic as consumers and enterprises alike purchased new devices, the slowdown in the global economy has resulted in buyers delaying device upgrades. As a result, PC vendors are likely to focus on software and service provision upgrades while the market recovers, with more extensive hardware enhancements expected down the line. One example identified by journalists monitoring Mac developments could see Apple move to produce a touchscreen MacBook Pro in 2025.
