Nitrous oxides emissions from energy consumption at conventional power and combined heat and power (CHP) plants in the U.S. greatly decreased over the years. Between 2004 and 2019, figures decreased by 68 percent, reaching the record low in 2019, at 1.34 million metric tons of nitrous oxides.
