This statistic shows the total value of building permits issued for the construction of new residential and commercial real estate in the Netherlands from 2006 to 2016. In 2008, the value of permits for residential real estate reached approximately 12 billion euros. Subsequently, this decreased to 3.4 billion euros in 2013. In 2016, that number rose to 6.5 billion euros. Commercial real estate, on the other hand, reached a total value of 8.2 billion euros in 2008 and decreased to 3.2 billion euros in 2016.

The figures provided show the value of the building permits issued for newly constructed real estate and exclude permits for, for example, renovation.
Residential property includes combinations of residential real estate with a commerical purpose if the majority of the building value is intended for living purposes.
Commercial property includes combinations of commercial real estate with residential buildings if the majority of the building value has a commercial purpose.
