This statistic displays the volume of energy-related "fine" particulate matter (PM2.5) emissions worldwide in 2015, based on region. During this year, India emitted six million metric tons of particulate matter 2.5 related to energy processes. PM emissions are mostly from incomplete household fuel combustion like cooking, heating, and lighting. Particles less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter (these PM2.5) are said to present the greatest risk to health, because of their ability to lodge in the lungs.
