Public broadcaster NPO1 was the most viewed television channel in the Netherlands in 2022, with a daily audience reach of around 40.3 percent. The other public TV channels, NPO2 and NPO3, reached a daily audience of 22 and 17.8 percent respectively.
Daily audience reach and age groups
TV’s daily audience reach differed considerably between age groups. In 2022, the highest audience reach was reached among the retirees, amounting to over 85 percent. By comparison, television reached a daily audience reach of only 26.1 percent among consumers aged 13 to 19 years.
Audience market share public television
Between 2019 and 2022, the audience market share of public broadcasters in the Netherlands increased, peaking in 2022 at 38 percent. Regional broadcasters were markedly less popular than their national counterparts though. In 2020, they had an audience market share of just 1.2 percent.
