As of August 2024, the most popular new generic top-level domain (gTLD) was .xyz with approximately accounting for 10.50 percent of gTLDs. This translates to approximately 4.16 million registrations. The second-most popular gTLD was .online with a 9.13 percent share of the gTLD market. Domains that do not have a country or geographic designation are often referred to by the term generic TLDs.
