As of August 2024, the most popular new generic top-level domain (gTLD) was .xyz with approximately 4.16 million domains, accounting for16.71 percent of gTLDs. The second-most popular gTLD was .online with 3.63 million registrations. Domains that do not have a country or geographic designation are often referred to by the term generic TLDs.
