This data depicts a ranking of the most popular countries in Europe for car travel in the summers of 2016 and 2017 based on the share of road trips taken by Germans to these destinations. Based on the data, the most popular destination for car travel in both 2016 and 2017 was Germany, which accounted for 39.7 and 36.2 percent of all road trips taken respectively.
