SSE's total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the United Kingdom and Ireland were 11.33 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in the 2022/2023 financial year. SSE's total GHG emissions have fallen 48 percent since the 2017/18 base year. SSE aims to cut absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 72.5 percent by 2030, relative to 2017/18.

Includes Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 includes GHG emissions associated with gas generation through Joint Venture holdings according to
equity share and are classed under Scope 3 'investment' category in the accordance with the GHG Protocol.
Excludes immaterial GHG emissions from Keadby 2 gas-fired power station, which was in the final stages of testing from September 2022 and was handed over to SSE on 15 March 2023.
