Market share of the largest players on the confectionery market in Sweden 2023
In 2023, the Swedish confectionary market was dominated by the internationally known American confectionary, food and beverage company Mondelez, which had a market share of 23 percent. It was followed by Cloetta, a chocolate and sugar confectionary company from Sweden, operating in the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. In this year, the company generated net sales of about six billion billion Swedish kronor.
Confectionery sales
The turnover from the retail sales of sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionary showed a growth trend in recent years in Sweden. As of 2020, sales amounted to approximately 35 billion Swedish kronor.
Fairtrade chocolate
When looking at the sales of chocolate, it is noticeable that Swedes like to buy Fairtrade products. The revenue from Fairtrade chocolate increased strongly in the past years. In 2016, it reached 107 million Swedish kroner. Fairtrade helps to make cocoa farming more sustainable by guaranteeing fair prices to the farmers.
