As of November 2021, Bavaria had the most vacation apartments and homes among federal states in Germany. The top three also included Schleswig-Holstein in the north and Baden-Württemberg in the south.

DTV = German Tourism Association (Deutscher Tourismusverband e.V.).
All providers of holiday accomodations with up to nine beds could take part in the classification. During this classification a one to five star ranking is given. One star stands for easy and functional equipment, while a five star ranking promises first-rate equipment all around. Participating in the DTV classification is voluntary and valid for three years. After this expiration the classification can be done again.
