TikTok saw increased popularity as a news source in Canada from 2023 to 2024, but the favorite was YouTube in 2024, with 29 percent of Canadians surveyed using the social network platform each week for news. YouTube overtook Facebook as the leading social media site used for news by Canadians, and the latter saw a drop in popularity in every year from 2022 onwards.
