Cider sales
Sweden has strong restrictions on the sales of alcoholic beverages. Beverages with an alcohol content higher than 3.5 percent are only allowed to be sold by Systembolaget, a government-owned chain of liquor stores. People aged 20 years and older can buy alcoholic beverages there. In 2022, the sales volume of cider in Systembolaget stores was highest in the second quarter, reaching a volume of approximately 4.9 million liters in both quarters.
International trade in cider
The value of cider imported into Sweden grew in recent years. As of 2022, the cider import value was about 199 million Swedish kronor. By contrast, the export value from Sweden peaked in 2015 at nearly 1.5 million Swedish kronor, after having increased sharply since 2010. The value of cider exported in 2022 was approximately 1.25 milion Swedish kronor.
