Annual revenue of Tencent has been on steadily growtng and reached over 377 billion yuan in 2019, around a third of which was generated by its online gaming operations. The company has funded or purchased gaming companies in or outside China in recent years. Its most high-profile gaming investments include the 330 million U.S. dollar venture in Epic Games, maker of popular PC titles such as Unreal Tournament and Fornite, and complete acquisition of Riot Games, maker of League of Legends. Tencent investments are expected to strengthen its portfolio also in mobile games in the future, alongside PC titles. Pocket Gems and Glu Mobile, for example, are two successful smartphone games companies that Tencent funded in the United States.
