The number of mammographs in Latvia decreased by two mammographs (-3.77 percent) in 2021 in comparison to the previous year. Nevertheless, the last two years recorded a significant higher number of mammographs than the preceding years. Mammography is essential in the fight against breast cancer, the most prevalent type of cancer among women. Many countries around the world introduced breast cancer screening programs to be able to detect the disease as early as possible, with mammography machines being one of the most important tools.
