Number of yearly bought new paper books by individuals from the Netherlands 2023
As of February 2023 in the Netherlands, 38 percent of surveyed respondents stated that they bought one to two paper books per year. 33 percent of respondents buy more than two books per year, which leaves 29 percent stating that they do not buy any books annually. This percentage is considerably higher when it comes to second-hand book purchases (54 percent).
