Publicly owned hospitals in Germany 2002-2021

In 2021, the number of publicly owned hospitals in Germany remained nearly unchanged at around 755 hospitals. In comparison to 2020, the number of publicly owned hospitals decreased not significantly by seven hospitals (-0.92 percent).
Publicly owned hospitals include all hospital structures run by a public institution, such as a government or public corporation. The general corporate policies of such hospitals are thus determined by public organizations, especially in terms of operating and funding.
