In 2016, there were 35 dairy companies in Sweden. The leading company for all kinds of dairy products in Sweden is Arla, far ahead of competitors like Skånemejerier and Norrmejerier.
Even though milk sales in Sweden rose constantly during the past years, the consumption volume of milk decreased annually. While it was 1.19 billion liters in 2007, the total volume of milk consumed in 2017 was 1.04 billion liters.
