In the European Union (EU-27), Italy has been by far the leading producer of concrete reinforcing bars, with almost three million metric tons. In the period of consideration, the production volume in Italy reached the peak year at approximately 3.6 million metric tons worth of products in 2011. That year, Poland, the second leading country in the EU-27, recorded a production volume of approximately 1.8 million metric tons.
