In 2021, the production of continuously-casted steel in Italy amounted to 23.14 million metric tons, representing a 20 percent increase compared to the previous year. With a recorded 30.2 million metric tons of continuously-casted steel yield, 2006 was the highest production peak for Italy in the last 15 years.

According to the source the production of continuously-cast steel includes all qualities, like carbon, stainless and other alloy. Continuous casting refers to the process whereby molten steel is solidified into a not completely finished billet, bloom or slab for further processing in the finishing mills.
