The number of medical graduates in the Netherlands increased by 210 graduates (+8.4 percent) in 2021. In total, the number of medical graduates amounted to 2,710 graduates in 2021. This increase was preceded by a declining number of medical graduates. Medical graduates are students who have graduated from medical school or similar institutions within a given year. Per its definition, the OECD excludes dental, public health, or epidemiology graduates. The rate of medical graduates is of importance especially in countries with physician shortages.
