The total audience expenditure at entertainment events in Italy fell by 76 percent in 2020 over the previous year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the audience spending, including the expenditure at the box office plus other types of expenses, amounted to approximately 1.18 billion euros in 2020, dropping from nearly five billion euros in 2019.
