According to the source, prior to 1996, an estimate of the value of coke produced in coke ovens owned by the iron and steel industry was included, this has now been replaced by an estimate of the value of coal purchased for such ovens, which is the actual monetary trade.

This combines industry end users, domestic end users, and other end users.

According to the source, all data is to the nearest £5 million. VAT is only included where not refundable.
