Sales of natural and organic pet food in the United States were forecast to reach approximately 6.8 billion U.S. dollars by 2019. This is an estimated increase of around three billion U.S. dollars since 2012.

For a pet food to be labeled “natural” it must be free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. “Organic” pet food must also be made without antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides and preservatives. According to a recent survey, 50 percent of U.S. consumers agreed that natural and organic pet foods are batter than standard national brand products.
