From 2000 to 2011, the military expenditure of the UK rose steadily, increasing by approximately 53 percent, from 23.2 billion British pounds to its peak, at over 37.6 billion British pounds. From 2012 onwards, military expenditure has fluctuated. In 2019, UK's military expenditure amounted to roughly 38 billion British pounds.
