Monthly audience market share of TV channels in Sweden September 2021

In September 2021, the private television channel TV4 had the highest TV audience market share in Sweden, with approximately 27 percent among viewers aged three years and older. Second placed the public service television station svt1, at about 21 percent.

TV4 is owned by TV4 Group which is one of the largest commercial TV broadcasters in Sweden. In 2019, the company generated a revenue of around 4.9 billion Swedish kronor. Since 2019, TV4 has been owned by the telecommunications company Telia. On the other hand, the public service TV channel svt1 is the primary station of the Swedish public television broadcaster Sveriges Television, abbreviated as SVT. To have access to public television and radio, the population of Sweden had to pay a license fee until 2018. That year the broadcasting license fee was set at 2,400 Swedish kronor.
