Government expenses on media in the Netherlands declined since 2016. As of 2019, the Dutch government spent roughly one biillion euros on media. Nearly 900 million euros was spent on national public television, whereas the foundation for broadcast music had roughly the same amount of money allocated to it (16 million euros) as in previous years.

The figures have been taken from several publications. For this reason, some categories have not return across some of the years.

The source states: "As of 1 January 2014 the funding of regional broadcasters were moved from the provinces to the ministry of Education, Culture and Science." Moreover as of 2013 de Wereldomroep (World broadcaster) was not financed by the Media law anymore.
Broadcasting and broadcast preparation became a part of "national public broadcsting".
