The revenues generated by fixed-line network access by telecommunication operators in Italy decreased from 17.3 billion euros in 2013 to an all-time low of 15.38 billion euros in 2022, to then slightly increase back in 2023, when it amounted to just above 16 billion euros. Telecommunication is the exchange of information over significant distances by electronic means and refers to all types of voice, data, and video transmission. Technologies such as telephones (wired and wireless), microwave communications, fiber optics, satellites, radio and television broadcasting, the internet, and telegraphs can transmit information.
