In 2023, book publishers in Sweden generated sales revenue of 1,084.8 million Swedish kronor from fiction books, up from 1026.1 million in the previous year. Revenue from fiction books hovered around 700 million for several years, but surpassed the 800 million kronor threshold in 2019 and kept on growing since then. In fact, 2022 marks the first time in recent years that the revenue from fiction books surpassed the one billion kronor threshold.
