This statistic displays the results of an online survey on the preferred devices used for listening to music in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2015. When asked which of the following devices and equipment they currently used for listening to music, a 56 percent share of UK adults aged 16 years and older stated that they used a CD player (Hi-Fi) to listen to music, making it the most common device for music consumption ahead of laptops (50 percent) and mobile phones or smartphones (47 percent). In line with this, a breakdown of music album unit sales in the UK shows that the physical CD was by far the best-selling album format in the UK in 2015, with 47.3 million CDs sold compared to only 18.1 million digital albums. As of May 2016, 21 percent of cconsumer spending on music went to tracks or albums bought on CD or vinyl.
