This statistic shows the total long-term investments of institutional investors in the Netherlands from 2006 to 2016 (in million euros). In 2006, total investments were worth approximately 2,520 billion euros. This is an increase from the 2,338 billion euros reached in 2015 and the highest value reached since 2006.

According to the source institutional investors are "units that invest capital that is acquired as a result of their activities. These activities are mainly the insurance of pensions and offering private investors opportunities to invest in selected risk profiles. The population of institutional investors contains pension funds, insurance corporations and non-MMF investment funds. The money market funds are excluded from the investment funds."
The long-term investments consist of the risk-bearing investments and the interest-bearing investments. The risk-bearing investments consist of the categories direct property and equity and shares. The category equity and shares can be further subdivided into listed shares, unlisted shares and investment fund shares or units.
In 2014, Statistics the Netherlands has conducted a major revision on their macro-economic data. The national accounts have been compiled in accordance with the guidelines and concepts of the new European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010). In addition, new statistical sources and estimation methods have been used during the revision. This table shows the figures from 2008 after revision, the figures up to 2008 have not changed.
