This statistic displays the preference among U.S. adults on the approach to solving the country's energy problems between 2011 and 2016. In 2012, 34 percent of respondents supported an emphasis on the production of oil and gas resources. As of 2016, the majority of those identifying as Republican supported alternative energies.
