The number of upper secondary schools in Sweden declined gradually since 2014/15. In 2023/24, there were 1,296 upper secondary schools in the country. Upper secondary school (gymnasieskola in Swedish) is a voluntary upper secondary education for children between age 16 and 19 years of age.
