The source adds: "The monthly wage is the agreed gross salary, excluding bonuses/allowances, but including the value according to tax of non-monetary remuneration liable to tax and paid overtime. The private tax benefits of a company car are not included. There is a difference between monthly wage including paid overtime and excluding paid overtime. The average monthly wage in a year is determined by dividing the yearly wage sum by 12 times the average number of jobs in that year."
* The source explains that "all enterprises and institutions active in the Netherlands are included in a collective labor agreement (CAO in Dutch) sector. The division into CAO sectors is based on the position of employees in the negotiations on working conditions. There are three collective labor agreement sectors: private enterprises, government and subsidized corporations."
