Global share of e-waste generation 2022, by type
An estimated 61.8 million metric tons of e-waste were generated worldwide in 2022. Small equipment such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, and kettles, accounted for the largest share, at roughly one-third of the waste generated. Large equipment - which includes washing machines and dishwashers, amongst others - ranked second, with a share of 24 percent.
